In the light of the development in the world of libraries and information, the Central Library at Nahrain University participated in a symposium held by the Library and Manuscripts House at the holy Abbasid threshold entitled "The Role of Iraqi Libraries in Achieving the Goals of Sustainable Development 2030" and in the presence of the secretaries and employees of libraries of Iraqi universities and research institutions. Outside of Iraq.
The symposium aims to achieve sustainable development in library science, which reflects a positive image on the development of scientific skills and abilities in all its forms and general and special types and modern methods used in the service of the world of libraries initiated by the Library and House of Manuscripts at the holy Abbasid threshold in Iraq.
The symposium included the presentation of papers and research in various titles in the application of sustainable development in Iraqi libraries and achievement of their objectives and the role of Iraqi professional associations in the field of information, libraries, legislation and laws to contribute to the protection of intellectual property rights.
Sustainable development was launched in 2015 after the convening of several international meetings by the United Nations, which set 17 goals for development and includes 169 goals, including libraries and their role in achieving the goals of sustainable development 2030.
